VFX pack Fluids content
Recent days work with liquids in 3ds max was quite problematic, because it was possible to only create water surface with a small level of customizing. However, with the possibilities of the PhoenixFD, we are now able to create high level simulations. In this section we will look at plug-in capabilities and main parameters used in work.
Part 2. Work with a viscosity (Creation and behavior of viscous liquids)
The liquid itself is not very diverse, as the program adjusts itself to the scope of the simulation and interact with objects. But there is one important parameter, which allows you to change the properties of water and its behavior – is viscosity and its related settings. They need to create a simulation of chocolate, honey and other viscous liquids. In this regard, there are a number of features that need to be taken into account.
– Work with different viscosity fluids
– Interaction with geometry
Part 3. Large-scale simulation. Creation of spray and foam
Domain Simulation allows you to create scenes with a huge number of cells. The larger scale – the more detail we need to get. Here come to the aid of simulation secondary elements – foam and spray.
– Especially the generation of large amounts of fluid. Work with foam and splashes.
Part 4. Water surface
Create scenes using water surfaces very common problem. Since the creation of the simple water surface, to more sophisticated simulations on the interaction with objects.
– Simulation of the motion of the ship on the water surface
– The creation of a large wave
– The fall of the aircraft on water
Bonus.
We give a compilation of lessons about scenes compositing in Nuke as a free bonus. The material used for the bonus is taken from learned lessons. Not only will you learn the basics of rendering VFX material, but also will work with passes assembling and shots finalizing. Lessons demonstrate creating a project from scratch and do not require any additional knowledge so even a beginner can follow through.
